An enclosure (cerramiento) is the structure that closes an open space of a home or business (terrace, porch, balcony, patio) with aluminium or PVC profiles and glass, turning it into a weather-protected room.
Depending on the system, an enclosure can be a simple barrier against wind and rain or a fully insulated extra room. These are the types we install every day.

Does it count as built area?
A fixed terrace or porch enclosure may count as built area for planning purposes depending on the municipality, which is why it needs a minor-works licence. Folding glass curtains, treated as a movable element, get a more flexible treatment in many bylaws.

Does an enclosure block noise?+
Yes: toughened glass cuts noise noticeably, and insulated glazing in PVC frames can exceed 40 dB of attenuation.
How long does an enclosure last?+
Quality aluminium and PVC profiles exceed 40 years on the coast; toughened glass does not degrade in the sun.
